One of four
This is one of four unidentified young men in an Eakins multi-pose
set that was supposedly assembled by the maestro himself.
He managed to get the lighting pretty good here. Could this have been influenced by Muybridge's work? Or Muybridge by these? Were they even contemporaries?
Eakins and Muybridge did know each other and worked in Philadelphia at the same time. According to PBS, Eakins heard about Muybridge's work and contacted him. Muybridge came to Philadelphia not long after, and the two were said to have influenced one another.
