"In the Painter’s Atelier" is from 1865 by Henryk Siemiradzki.
Don't know. In 1866 artificial lighting would have been limited to flame based types such as oil lamps, candles, and gaslight. Some of those could be quite bright if filaments were used.
Jerry, do you suppose this is based on natural lighting? Did they even have any form of artificial lighting back then?
