George Platt Lynes
The nudity in this 1948 G.P. Lynes photo is subdued,
I have about 8 shots from this casual photo shoot. I didn't know any others existed. The model is dancer Francisco Moncion. Other shots show his face more clearly. I believe they are in Francisco's Central Park West apartment.
I miss spoke above. One of the pictures taken shows a towel in the bathroom with initial GPL on the towel - so was in all likelihood Platt Lynes's apartment. Good documentation. I can email you shots. I read you are in Hilo. I grew up on Lehua Street.
Wow, a Big Island guy! Nice to know that. You can use the contact form at upper right to send the pictures. Neither your message nor your email address will appear here. Some viewers' email services won't let them attach files to a message, but most do. If yours won't, just send a note, and you will get the blog email address by return private message. Thanks!
This is fantastic. I like that light/ dark contrast, the pose, and composition.
ReplyDeleteI agree completely.
DeleteThe perfect blend where it all comes together. Exceptional, but it is Lynes after all.
ReplyDeleteRight. I have a full series of Mr. Lynes' work comin up in a few weeks.
DeleteEthereal image.
ReplyDeletePlatt-Lynes also did a great surreal series of mythological figures….:)

ReplyDeleteThanks for the information. Do you know where I can get digital versions of the other photos?
