Contact Sheet II
Our last G.P. Lynes photo is from a different contact sheet which was labeled "Sailors."
The model looks more like a bodybuilder, but I suppose he could have been both.
He looks like bodybuilder Bert Goodrich. With that muscular bod, he could have been one of those muscular sailors that handled and loaded heavy shells into the big guns….:)
More than likely kept anonymous because of the subject matter of a male nude, the Navy would not have approved. And it could be the photo set may not have met Platt Lynes standards, photographers can be very critical of their own work. :\
All of what you say is true. What puzzles me is that the quality of the contact sheet images shines through, at least to my eye, even in that "down and dirty" format.
Even as "rough draft" composites, the excellence of GPL's mastery is apparent! Artists are their own worst critics but posting this series is greatly appreciated.
Thanks Jerry, great viewing today!

Whoever he was, I find it sad that we don't know him and that Mr. Lynes never fully produced his photos.
