Sometimes referred to as "the other male nude photographer named Roy" in reference to Roy Dean, Roy Blakey took up photography full time when an injury (and age) ended his career as a skater in the Ice Capades and Holiday on Ice. Today we will look at some of his work, starting with this unknown model in Da Vinci's Vitruvian pose.
Oui, homme de Vitruve par le talentueux Roy Blakey.
ReplyDeleteAnother fine séries is présented, merci.
You're welcome!
DeleteI was just reading about him a couple of months ago when he passed away at 94. A good full life. I still have the Mandate magazine with the shots he took of Joe Porcelli, one of my favourite models.
ReplyDeleteI found it a bit odd that his obituary (or at least the one I saw) did not mention his photography. A lot of folks know him better for that than for his ice dancing.
DeleteVery odd. The New York Times did a in depth obit covering his entire career, as most papers did. His niece is currently working on a film about his life professionally and personally.
DeleteLeave it to me to find the only obit that doesn't mention nude photography. The Times and the Minneapolis Star both did.
