Treatment

This looks like one of those treatments for miners or others who work in the dark.

  1. I'm sure I've seen this photo before. In the 1930's French soldiers stationed underground in the Maginot line received "sunlight" treatments via UV lights. That's what this photo is.

    1. Oui, les fortifications Maginot.
A véritable city for soldiers on our border with Germany, useless when they went around it and trampled through Belgium. :(

  2. Jerry, I have a doubt about your interpretation. Minors are not normally entitled to a session that would bring them back to the light. Seeing the man sitting, he would rather remind me of a prison guard or a French policeman... I also doubt that prisoners can benefit from such beneficial treatment...
That said, here is another excellent series!!!

    1. Turns out they were Maginot Line soldiers. Glad you enjoyed the set!

  3. Sunlamps were used to treat children for ricketts and people with vitamin D deficiency before WW2 in America and Europe. They were also used for treating skin disease, and in the case of soldiers at the Maginot defenses, to help prevent disease from living underground.
