These are the Von Brauner brothers. They got a trophy for wrestling. They look mean,
but I'm sure they would make great pets with the proper training.

Jerry's Likes, Part 4 - Military
For the military section, I'm starting with a photo of World War I Germans that I may have
posted some time ago. Something for everyone in this one.
Mass nudity
I'm not 100% certain that this one is military, but there aren't that many other scenarios
in which this could have played out. I can't find a single guy here not to like.
Helping out
This is one of those helping hand military photos that I like so much.
Just two burly guys cleaning up in a small stream. Simple, but nice.
Jerry's Likes, Part 5 - Nudists
As unlikely as it may seem, this lanky guy is probably my all-time favorite nudist. He appeared in a couple of western outdoor themed photo shoots as the third wheel with a straight couple. He's better looking than the two of them together, but I wish they hadn't cropped his feet out.
Hairy
This hairy middle aged nudist is from a group I cropped the females out of a long time ago.
I probably won't be doing that any more, but I had to include him for this series.
Jerry's Likes, Part 6 - Art
I had to include an art section in my list of likes. This is dated at 1880, but the artist is unknown.
How could somebody do something this good and be anonymous. Life ain't fair sometimes.
Vigeland
The sculptural entry in the art section is this piece from Oslo by Vigeland
that shows a burly grandfather giving his grandson a piggyback ride.
Dumas
You knew we weren't going to get through a list of my art "likes" without an academic drawing,
and here it is at the very end. It's from 1840 by Michel Dumas, and despite the rough nature
of it, he manages to produce a very good image of a middle aged bearded man.

Von Pluschow Day
Wilhelm von Pluschow was the lesser known, but very talented, older cousin of Wilhelm von Gloeden. We don't have as much of von Pluschow's work, but what we do have tends to be of good quality. In fact, many observers give him a nod over his cousin when it comes to composition and technical skill. I'm not sure whether the latter factor is due to the original work or due to better conservation of the prints and negatives. Some of von Gloeden's material was vandalized, so we can't really know. Whatever the case, today we look at five of von Pluschow's male nudes from the late 19th C.
Sword and platter
I think this young man is supposed to be holding a sword and a shield, but the shield
looks more like a platter to me . . . and a silver one at that. Maybe he was going to serve
up the head of his enemy. That was done a few times in Antiquity.
Horizontal
Although this picture is carefully composed, the model seems
awkward while the other elements appear more harmonious.
Stereotypical?
This pose was a stereotype in both beefcake and cheesecake photography by the 1940s.
Von Pluschow used it around 1900 in several different photographs.

Expect changes
Expect changes
I've decided to re-order the priorities in my life, and I will soon stop posting on a daily basis. I'm running out of ideas and unposted photos, so it's time for a change. At least initially I will continue to post, but they will be less frequent and hopefully of better quality. I may stop blogging entirely at some point, but that is not the plan at this time. My dogs, my garden, reading good books, and (hopefully soon) international travel will be taking up more of my time. I really need to do this, so I hope y'all understand.
Random Day, Part 1 - Beefcake Photos
Today's double feature is random 20th Century photos and art. We start with a viewer
submission that looks very familiar to me, but I can't place the name. I even used a software
search of both my files and the internet, but nothing came up. Anybody?
Off kilter
The images seems oddly tilted in this photo, but it works. I can't figure out if the
photographer intended it that way or if someone came along later and cropped it.
Those eyes
For some reason, this model's eyes struck me when I first saw this photo.
Probably totally idiosyncratic and not noticed by others.
Random Day, Part 2 - 20th Century Art
Part two of our random double feature has some 20th Century male nude art.
We start with a piece that seems to have a healthy dose of 20th Century angst.
No idea
I have no idea when this was made or what that is the model is holding, but I like it a lot.

A visit to the Baths
Ty from Houston asked for some gay baths pictures, and I'm more than happy to oblige. You'll notice that nearly all of these are from the showers, a location where many patrons both began and ended their visits. See if you can tell if these guys are coming or going.
Prolific pair
I have several photos of these two taken with a column style group
shower that was a very new type of plumbing in the mid-70s.
Note to Albert the Gay Belgian: "The buffet is now open."
Unlikely to be authentic
Although this was found in a group of bathhouse photos, I think it is a still from a porn film shot in a locker room. The combination locks are the giveaway. I can't imagine a bathhouse patron bringing along his own lock or memorizing the number for one provided by the baths.

Robert Rex by Pat Milo (I think) Day
Robert Rex worked for Bob Mizer of AMG, Chuck Renslow of Kris, and Pat Milo . . . and those are just the ones I know of. He was obviously a popular model, but I have to admit that I post his photos to please others as I don't like his looks myself. (I post lots of photos I don't like by the way.) Anyway, I'm giving him his own day, and I'm fairly certain that these are all by Pat Milo despite some lingering doubts about two. We start with Mr. Rex on a stool on a platform.
Outdoors
Although today's series is not arranged in chronological order, one can actually date some of Robert Rex's work by the number of tattoos he had. I think he must have used some of his modeling pay to acquire more of them, because he had many fewer earlier on. And I'm not going to be bashful about those silly tattoos over his nipples. They don't help his looks at all in my opinion.
Unattributed
I don't know if this one is faded color or if it somehow acquired a sort of tint.
Disregarding the odd coloring, it looks like Milo's work.
Storied Column
Pat Milo used this same column when photographing Kip Behar, Don Deckman,
and a number of other great models in the late 50s and early 60s.
Marlene Dietrich Pose
Here we see Robert Rex in a pose screen great Marlene Dietrich might have used. Just a reminder
that Mr. Rex once worked in New Orleans as a 10-cent taxi dancer . . . in drag.
Showoff
Between Robert Rex's endowment and Pat Milo's skill
we get a crotch shadow in a jockstrap shot.
Hanging out in the garden
This unattributed photo shows Robert Rex hanging out in a garden. The columned portico at the left of the photo reminds me of one I've seen in some Milo photos, but that's just a hunch.
Hand over . . .
I can't recall another instance in which Pat Milo had a model pose this way, but somebody
out there probably knows of some. I have to say that I found myself liking Robert Rex a teeny
bit more after putting this series together, but he's still not at all my type.

Here we see a clever camper whose outstanding tent has already attracted a female.
I've cropped her out of the picture to keep Big Dude from being disappointed.

Bush by Bruce
Today's theme is bush by Bruce, and we start with a stern looking James Galbraith. The lighting is quite good and produced a shadow that a certain frequent commentator will no doubt enjoy.
