John Hamill

Although he was known to work for Barrington and Arax, the photographer who took this amazing photo of English actor and model John Hamill is unknown.

  1. A long time favorite of mine - my version of this pose is attributed to "Galaxy" which is not familiar to me - he has quite o list of films over the years but the one he probably regrets most is "Trog" with Joan Crawford on her last acting legs

    1. Yes, "Trog" was a real mess. I read an interview in which Hamill said his appearance in nude photos caused him to lose out on getting into better movies or getting better parts in the ones he did do. At first glance, that makes sense, but how many movie goers back then would even have known about the nude photos? I suppose the producers didn't want to take any chances on it getting out.

  2. There is also a set of him "wrestling" with another guy named Richard Caldwell - both erect - there is no studio or photographer listed

    1. I just did a search of my collection, and I don't have that set . . . unless I've mislabeled it, which wouldn't be the first time.

  4. Barrington was said to like Hamill because he would appeal to American customers, and that of all his models Hamill also looked American.

    1. It's the hair. Hamill's hair is what I call "the Robin" as Robin wore it for over 20 years. Feels very midcentury US.
