John Gallagher was one of Urban's favorite models, and every one of the numerous photos of John in my Urban collection are fully nude.  Urban's propensity to not play the posing strap game may have partly caused his legal problems which resulted in arrests in 1947. 1956. and 1960.  He was fined in the first two cases and imprisoned in the third.  The police in 1956 seized and destroyed
prints and negatives without a court order.  Mentally and financially broken after prison,
Al Urban ceased photographing men in 1963 and faded into obscurity. 
We must never forget the price heroes like Al Urban paid for our freedom!
