These two wrestlers are William Muldoon (left) and Clarence Whistler from 1881.
An interesting character, Muldoon claimed to be a life-long bachelor, but was found after his death to have been married to two women (not at the same time) and to have legally adopted his secretary who inherited his entire estate. The son of Irish immigrants, he first gained notice for the caber toss, a Scottish log throwing game he performed at an upstate New York Scottish gathering.
Oh, and did I mention that he was drop dead handsome?
