This 1939 photo shows Jared French with some rope that probably washed ashore.
I suspect that Margaret Hoening took this one, mostly because getting the light and pose
so well done would be very hard to do as a self portrait. Not impossible, though.
The way the light strikes the male is phenomenal. I've not seen enough of M He's work to identify her style, but if this is an example...wow.
ReplyDeleteMH was a talented woman, but I can't say with certainty that she took the photo. I like to think so, but it could have been a timer or even Paul Cadmus. And as I noted elsewhere in today's comments, for every photo this good in that collection, there are five or more that are just so-so.
