Rhode Island


This 1957 photograph by Theodore Newman called Peter and Two Pauls
 in Rhode Island shows Peter Harvey, Paul Fisher and Paul Thek,
three gay men from Little Rhody.

  1. All three from the NYC arts scene, so vibrant after Ww2. For some the arts were more than likely an outlet to deal with PTSD or shell shock and war nerves as it was known then. The arts or even its appreciation help some men heal….:)

    1. The auto industry was so eager to get back in full swing after WWII that some of them served up warmed over pre-war designs while others rushed out new ones. This looks postwar.

    2. By 1957 lots of older, outdated jalopies were cheap to buy.
      These starving artists may have bought this car for 100 dollars….:)
