Sawing
The musculature is exceptional in this William Etty painting, Man Sawing.
Superb. Bony back musculature, so tricky to do well.
ReplyDeleteIt's tempting to say that his could have inspired Muybridge, but sawing was a common activity at the time of both men's work.
DeleteThis is one of my favourite pieces. Exceptional model and I love his choice of colours.
