Gary Karr
Double bass virtuoso Gary Karr posed with his instrument for Jack Mitchell.
Sir Thomas Beecham, 2nd Baronet, CH, was an English conductor and impresario best known for his association with the London Philharmonic and the Royal Philharmonic orchestras. He has gone down in history for the following remark - which I believe was in respect of a cellist: Madam, you have between your legs an instrument capable of giving pleasure to thousands and all you can do is scratch it.
I wonder if the bass isn't symbolic of his other instrument...
ReplyDeleteOne does wonder.
