I've posted a couple of photos of English model Laurence Woodford in the past, and I recently found some more. He published a 1928 book of pictures of himself posing along with a text teaching fitness and sensible bodybuilding methods. He seems quite admirable in more than one way.

I wonder how this photo portraying penitence or sorrow fits into his book.
I agree with your take on the photo's theme and also wonder what it had to do with a book on health and fitness. Of course, that body is a great illustration, penitence or not.
Such beauty. I'd love to get a copy of his book.
