Richard Neville
1971 was the year Richard Neville posed for this one.
Richard Neville was an Australian who came to fame as an editor of the counterculture magazine OZ in Australia and the United Kingdom in the 1960s and early 1970s. The OZ editors were subject to the longest obscenity trial in Britain because one issue edited by school kids had a picture of Rupert Bear showing his penis. Although the editors were found guilty, it was squashed by the high court. He died in 2016 in Australia.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the info, Thomas. I actually knew about Rupert Bear, but most other Americans probably do not.
DeleteRupert Bear is a beloved British clothed teddy bear comic strip figure. He has been around since 1920.
