While there's a cross prominent in this one,
the model isn't a typical representation of Christ.
Interesting. The wish, by life models, including me, to portray Christ is strong. Not, necessarily, inspired by faith. More a wish to at least try to emulate some of the masters in this genre. In some ways, he is the ultimate every man. We all know that the ethnicity is totally wrong, but wanting to attempt a crucifixion pose is, in some ways, the ultimate challenge.

I can see why it would be physically challenging, plus there's something to be said for taking on one of the most familiar motifs in the art world.
I have read this was symbolic of the cross all men must bear in life. I think it is beautiful.
That makes sense, and it IS beautiful.
