Academic Art Day
I have a vast digital collection of academic male nude art, mostly 19th Century,
that I will never have time to post in full. Today's chunk is a mix of paintings
and drawings, starting with this work by Louis-Paul Fournier from 1880.
I think this painting is brilliant! While I'm generally ignorant of art and its nomenclature, I DO know the term 'chiaroscuro'. I think it is wonderfully shown here. I also love the way the model's jet-black hair has been rendered - from his full head of hair, to the van Dyke goatee and his impressive pubic thatch. 🥰
I am familiar with his illustrations and one of his more famous works The Funeral Of Shelley but this is just beautiful! The model exudes sheer confidence as he should.
