Leon Nole
Leon Nole autographed this 1930 Edwin Townsend picture
for his friend and fellow bodybuilder/model Sig Klein.
Probably not the processing. Some of the New York physique models sunbathed nude on the roof of a Coney Island bath house. And no, it wasn't a gay bath house. Also, Mr. Townsend did some theatrical work, so makeup could have been involved.
Along with Raymond Van Cleef, Leon Nole was said to be the model used by Paul Manship to create the famous gold statue of Prometheus at Rockerfeller Plaza in NYC. Rex in DC
