Outdoor beard

This is a repeat post of an Arthur Schulz photo that I'm particularly fond of.

  1. He's a bit "lost' against the background, but he's a looker.

  2. He is rugged, and the Italian cypress trees in the background are very rugged also.

  3. Seems not only rugged, but also tanned all over. Early naturist?

    1. This was shot in Italy, so he might have been naturally on the darker side.

  4. L'homme parmi les cyprès.
In Italie cyprès trees were used as wind breaks to protect crops and orchards, just as eucalyptus trees were used in California. In parts of the Lombardie, Émilie and Vénétie régions agriculture is very intensive to make as much use of the land as possible. Mulberry trees are grown for their fruit as well as for silk worms. Entwined among the mulberry trees are grape vines and together, with cyprès trees, they form a ring around a productive field or orchard.

  5. Schulz dürfte bekannter sein.
Im Stil von v.Gloeden, da sie sich gegenseitig beeinflussten.
Italien hatte seinen Zauber gewirkt. (“)

  6. The background works rather well I think, and the gentleman accentuates it beautifully.
