Another by Townsend

Edwin Townsend saw Tony Sansone in a 1928 Broadway play called "Mima" and went on to photograph him more than any other photographer.  This is one of Townsend's later works featuring Tony, and it seems reminiscent of some of George Platt Lynes work.

  1. Light oil? His delts are beautiful, and this pose brings them out perfectly.

    1. Yes, an example of judicious use of oil. Just right.

  2. I can definitely see the similarity to George Platt Lynes work. This is a stunning photo and my favourite in the series ... and they are all really good. This totally captures the beauty of the male body.

    1. Speaking of Lynes, I got my long awaited biography at the Post Office yesterday. It's quite detailed and well resourced.

    2. That's great Jerry. An early Christmas present for you! I'm going to have to wait a bit longer. It's not published here until 15th February. From the publishers information it sounded as though it's detailed and well resourced. Happy reading!
