This cover of Iron Man shows Ray Routledge at what I think may have been his
maximum bulk. I don't know if the garish skin shade is technical issue with early
1960s color printing or the result of the primitive fake tanning compounds he was
known to use. Or could he have actually been that color?
Cannot believe this is the same man as in the first picture. Wow! What a stud.
ReplyDeleteIt is a remarkable change, and at the upper limit (but still within it) of my tolerance for heavy development.
DeleteI am Iron Man!
ReplyDeleteBTW I went to a body builder contest in Cape May, NJ in 1992 and some of the guys were this color from fake tan juice. I watched them touching up the fake tans in the mens' head.
Interesting. Ray was ahead of his time, managing the same color 30 years earlier.
