Plate 164
I can't stop looking at the pole vaulter's back in Plate 164.
This is model 46, Jacob K. Shell. When he was a model for Muybridge (1884-1885), Shell was taking courses in dentistry at the University of Pennsylvania, but he was a noted athlete and later became head football coach at Swarthmore and one of the founders of the AAU (Amateur Athletic Union).
