Polish Interwar I

 

Narcyz Witczak Witaczyński was a Polish military officer and an excellent  photographer who started his career in the Russian Army before Polish independence in 1918.  He served with distinction in the Polish-Bolshevik War of 1919-21 as well as the opening campaign of World War II.  A brave patriot, he shed his uniform when Poland surrendered and started a resistance group focused on counter-intelligence and publishing an underground magazine, Apel.  After three years, Mr. Witaczyński was arrested by the Gestapo and died in German captivity.  His list of medals and honors is too long to publish here, but he is a true hero of the Polish nation.  For our puposes, we will look at two of his photos of Polish army men enjoying swimming.  Enlarge if you can for detail.
