Perhaps the most famous boxer of all, Cassius Clay, who later became
Muhammad Ali, at the 1960 Olympics in Rome. This isn’t an official weigh-in.
If it were, he’d have to keep his hands off the scale.
I admired him for that, and he was put through hell, but at least he had the advantage of celebrity, money, and some good lawyers. Fortunately, he prevailed in court without going to jail. Others did not.
I think of the slander they put this man through for being proudly anti-war. Gross injustice.
