The plastering is well under way here, with a combination of frames
and human hands helping keep Sandow steady and in place.
No less than four men seem to have their hands on him, lucky guys.

He was life cast at the behest of Ray Lankester, the curator of the Natural History Museum of London. The full nude statue of Sandow was exhibited on the main floor of the museum and elicited condemnation from the public and the press. The statue was fitted for a fig leaf and displayed for three months, eventually it was placed in the basement of the museum. Rex in DC

ReplyDeleteI must investigate the full body cast as a process. A mate has had it done. Took ages, even with modern materials.
