Older than Average, Part 1 - WPG Models

Exactly two weeks ago, I promised our resident life model commentator, David, a series on older models.  When I was thinking about the photographic half of this double feature, Don Whitman of Western Photography guild came to mind, and sure enough, I found several of his models who fit the bill, starting with a personal favorite, Carter Lovisone, shown here.

  1. I've commented on Mr. L's looks before. He is a handsome example of how an adult male's body is admirable. I like some of the other shots of him where he's smiling

    1. I agree about the smile, but the Classic pose here fit today's series well.

  2. We should hope to look like that at his age! Or any age for that matter!

  3. Excellent Jerry, many thanks for the "older" posts and name check. Mr Lovisone here is a great example. Such an elegant pose. He knows his craft well.

  4. I have always loved Carter Lovisone. He seemed to have no shyness about posing nude -- there are many great shots of him out there.

Not only was Lovisone physically beautiful, he had a personality to match. He was known for his warmth and sense of humor. One of his great loves in life was dancing, which started in early childhood. After serving in the Navy, he began a dance class business which he maintained most of his adult life. He also worked in construction, laying cement. Tragically at some point, a truck pushed a brick wall over on him, breaking his back, and leaving him in a coma for 11 weeks. He never fully recovered, and his dancing days were essentially finished. However, he never lost his sense of humor and love for life.

    1. Wow, what an amazing, if sad, story. I can't thank you enough for adding human depth to the photo and for reminding us that every one of these men had a life, loves, and a story.

  5. You're welcome, Jerry.
I'm not an expert on how to develop a beautiful body, but I think that his dancing skills complemented his weight-lifting, resulting in a very nicely proportioned body, as well as ability to pose well. It reminds me of my favorite, Tony Sansone, who also began as a dancer. Maybe "David Life Model" could add some insight on this.
