Tallone
Although it looks like an academic piece, my source says that Cesare Tallone (1853-1919) did this painting late in his career. Prints of it are still selling well on line.
Liking the serpentine pose and hip alignment to achieve stability. As ever, for me, evocative and inspiring.
ReplyDeleteThanks for explaining the hip alignment. I thought it was simply an aesthetic element, but it apparently did double duty.
DeleteJust my guess. Assuming it was based on an actual life work. We all tend to do this. But can only be seen on the nude figure. It is rather beautiful.
