Sarong
Sarong of the Saragasso Sea was what Dee labeled this one.
Actually, this is one of several photos in my collection that were on-board pageants to entertain the sailors. Line crossings have a harsher edge to them, something like a (fortunately now banned) fraterntity initiation.
Wish I could tell them how much they are entertaining me decades later. Wonder what the guy on the far right used as a lei. He would still be my favorite even without the lei. Nick
Wonderful look at another time.
ReplyDeleteI suspect they were taking part in a Crossing The Equator Ceremony

Yes, Nick, I also wish they knew how much they are appreciated 80 years on. Each and every one of them is lovable on one level or another.
DeleteOh yes they are. It’s incredible.
DeleteA fun group of guys. Of course there are a couple of beefy guys on the left that I would like to know.
ReplyDeleteI noticed those two as well, Pat!
