Fred Hare and John Kemble
Although my source did not give a photographer's name for this 1951 shot
of Fred Hare and John Kemble, I get a strong AMG feeling from it.
I always got the impression that backgrounds like these were projected with an opaque projector, like the glassware that made those incredible patterns in so many of Mizer's images from this period.
But does anybody know how Mizer balanced projecting these backgrounds with lighting the model? Were they possibly rear-projected on a sheer scrim behind the model?
Definitely by Bob Mizer, with that nautical backdrop and wrestling pose of the models….:)
ReplyDeleteYes, I tagged it as AMG even though I wasn't 100% sure at the time. Now I am.

Good question! I hope someone knows the answer.
DeleteLa touche magique de Mizer.
ReplyDeleteMore than likely rear projected onto a background screen, an overhead or direct projection would not work at all.
I wonder if they’re singing True Love a la Bing and Princess Grace (1956)
