We get a wide view of this miners' shower in Limburg.
The shower space in the Eugene YMCA locker room was expansive like this. Even more so was the University of Oregon locker room. When I was showering in the Eugene Y once, my glasses fell off the ledge and broke on the floor (that was in the days when glass lenses were an option). Fortunately they only cracked and didn't shatter, but a nice guy came over and helped me out. Stark naked. He was the local newscaster. I. . .uh. . . took my time in getting my glasses together, and he was my favorite newscaster after that.
I've seen a few pics with these shower rooms with straight-overhead very high shower heads, before, & am intrigued. There doesn't seem to be a way to turn them off/on? Guess they just had a master valve that turned them all on together while anybody was showering?
Cool. I miss communal showers. Natural healthy way for men to bathe together.
ReplyDeleteSadly, they seem to be disappearing.
DeleteTrue. My local gym just has cubicles with doors. So much for promoting healthy, variable body image. Still my modelling helps...
DeleteWow that's a HUGE shower space!
ReplyDeleteRight! I almost commented on the expansiveness in my caption, but I tend to get too chatty sometimes, so I didn't.

Fascinating to see such an archive from the Limburg area in the Netherlands. I currently live in Zuid-Limburg (South Limburg).
ReplyDeleteThe watermark on this photo indicates that they have a museum/archive that might be worth your attention. Just a thought.
