Although this photo is not attributed to Eakins, it is of the Biglin brothers,
This photo is by the Notman firm of Montreal, the most successful 19th century photography firm in Canada. The firm's archives, held at McGill University, lists this image simply as "Rowing Team". I suppose the Biglin brothers COULD have posed for the firm in Canada, but without further documentation I would have to doubt whether it is them in this photo. But it's always been a favorite of mine because of the handsome men and their striped "shorts".
I can't remember where I found the picture, but a search I did just brought it up labeled as "Biglin Brothers, models for Thomas Eakins" with what appears to be a French Canadian source. Perhaps either the brothers or the photographers traveled?
Love those moustaches..
