AMG 1958

Bob Mizer of AMG captured this image of an unknown lanky model in what I suspect was a stage set bathroom, not a real one.  Am I the only one whose home had those space heaters as a kid?

  1. The shadow of the camera in the lower right corner adds a certain charm here. But so does the man himself.

    1. LOL, we lived in West Texas where they flared off "waste" gas from the oilfields and liquified some of it as propane on the side. We got it from the local refinery, and it was really cheap. So cheap in fact, that my stingy Scottish father converted some of his ranch trucks to run on it instead of gasoline. Before they began distributing propane, contractors brought in wood from the East Texas forests, and everyone had wood stoves.

    2. Back then electricity was a lot cheaper than today.
In the late 50's and through the 60's subdivisions in California were being built and the Edison Company was promoting all electric houses
i.e.= all electric kitchens, electric heating and air conditioning, electric water heaters. In fact, a lot of the old tract homes in California, if they still have the original doorbells, you will see an emblem of a family of three approaching their house with sun streaming over it with the
tagline = "living better electrically" Gold Medallion Home.
Relatives told me utility bills would be about $20-30 for electricity,
$5-7 for the phone and $2-3 for gas !
