Factory Workers


Herbert List took this photo of young men showering after work at the Phoenix Gummiwerke 
near Hamburg in 1954.  Something tells me that the "Phoenix" bit comes from the fact that 
Hamburg was virtually burned to the ground by an air raid in 1943 that started a firestorm.

  2. I have often thought this photograph demonstrated the very natural and acculturated German attitude to nudity.
