Lon 1957
Lionel Revaute was Junior Mr. France in 1957 and posed for Lon of New York.
I agree. It seemed to be a very understated sexual reference. Another was the obvious oiled penis. Most of the nude photos, oiled or not, didn't have shiny oiled penises.
It's my understanding that pulling back the foreskin was a way for models to seem more "modern." Starting some time before WWII, American men and boys were increasingly likely to be circumcised. As a result, foreskins were considered old-fashioned, and pulling them back was a way for a model to seem more modern.
I've always found uncut to be more attractive, and (being cut myself) can't understand why anyone with a foreskin wouldn't be happy to show it off (barring medical issues).
After very many years, probably viewing thousands of penises still I can't decide, from an aesthetic point of view, which style I prefer. Brought up on classical and renaissance imagery has given me an appreciation of the modest endowment. My early nude photographic interest was, apart from Muybridge was based entirely American material, therefore mostly cut guys. This gave me a liking for the "high and tight" look. On balance I think it is the proportion of the head to the shaft with retracted and cut guys. Some seem to be a little shrivelled. With uncut, both a full head wider than the shaft and a small covered head, to me looks attractive. As I've mentioned many times I'm a life model and uncut. I always work foreskin forward, however, when doing naturist activities and sometimes modelling for nude photography I retract, especially in er, cool conditions. Someone should write a book on the subject.
ReplyDeleteYes, well equipped.
DeleteI hadn't thought about it, but you have a good point there.
