Dick Butler
This is Dick Butler with dinner at Key West in 1963.
Those are American lobsters (called "Maine lobsters" in New England where I grew up), which are most common from Maine to New Jersey, and never occur further south than North Carolina. There is a Florida spiny lobster that might be found in Key West, but it doesn't have the huge claws. So, either the photo was not taken at Key West, or he was posing with some Maine lobsters that had been flown in to Key West for dinner.
I found the same photo on a different auction site, and they say it was made at Fire Island, so no flown in dinner. At least the two sources agree on the date.
At least he didn't catch crabs!-Dee Exx
ReplyDeleteRight, but we can't really see what's going on under the water.
