No idea
Other than perhaps some vague Atlas reference,
I have no idea what's going on here, but I like it.
It's a beautiful shot. He's a bit over-oiled. Was he given that statue as an award?Leave it to Russ Warner to produce another keeper! Are there more shots of this man?
Neel Bate and his lover Ernest Henry did pose for Lynes. Mr. Bate became better known later on as an explicit artist doing gay themed erotica. I really should do a series on his art, despite the fact that I don't personally find it to be very good. I've posted lots of other things I didn't like.

DeleteI have 6 more of Neel, one of which is a duo (with Earnest Henry) purportedly by George Platt Lynes.
