Solarization
Dianora Niccolini did a number of male nudes using the solarization technique
which produced tone reversal by extreme overexposure of the film.
To get technical, this is actually "pseudo-solarization" (also known as the "Sabattier effect"), although it's widely referred to as "solarization."
While "true" solarization is done in-camera through overexposure of the negative (and is less often seen), this effect is done during the printing of a normally exposed negative, by *briefly* exposing the print to additional light during the development.
it's a hit-and-miss, one-off process that additionally requires making copy stand negatives of a successful image. But it gives an intense effect that became popular in the "psychedelic" '60s.
NIce.
ReplyDeleteI have a special liking for women who photograph naked males that show their penises.
