I'm finally fulfilling a request for a lumberjack series. (Sorry it took so long, Teddy.)
We start with nude physique models and the only one of five I can identify.
This is Frank Hollfelder, a model who worked initially for Jean Ferrero,
but became a photographer himself. I don't think Ferrero took this one, though.
Nicely composed. You can see him using the axe, not just posing. Thanks Jerry for this series. Just reminded me of my early years body-building. When he was out I'd set up physique model poses in my Dad's garage. He had a selection of tree felling tools for me to pose nude with.
ReplyDeleteLove the garage story! I really enjoyed putting this series together, btw.
DeleteThanks. I was 17 at the time. Sadly no pics exist.
DeleteHello Jerry , am almost sure too that it is not Ferrero's work : not his technique and I never saw this photo in the numerous Ferrero catalogues .Cheers . Jean .
ReplyDeleteThanks for the confirmation, Jean. Since I put this series in the queue, I have learned that Mr. Hollfelder used timers and took some photos of himself that he sold. So this might (or might not) be one of those.
DeleteYes indeed , some photos of him as a painter (not a successfull one I am afraid) were his own work , so ...
DeleteWow! What a stunning man. Lovely chopper ... and his axe is quite impressive too!
Gentilhomme a Paris
I need to give Mr. Hollfelder his own series here.
