Military Men, Part 2 - Australians with Moustaches


Part two of our military double feature is comprised of studio photos Australian soldiers from the period ca. 1890-1918.  They all have what I consider to be very fine moustaches.
We start with Private George Lionel Hutton who was honored by being sent to London as part of the Australian contingent for the coronation of Edward VII in 1902.  He was a member of the First Queensland Mounted Infantry and won two medals in the Boer War.  I can see why they picked him.

  1. A very enviable moustache. I'm sure at the time, even if it went unsaid, people were aware of the slightly more than a hint of homoerotic power of a 'tached man. Imagine a room filled with handsome men all with bristling moustaches....
