The fake posing strap in this set actually looks quite realistic.
I remember these images of Jack Thomas from the back copies we got in England and as a teenager, I wasn't initially really aware the straps were drawn in. I later figured it out as the real straps left a natural contour. I don't know if I'm alone in this, but I have always found a semi-nude - in trunks or a strap - as erotic as a nude and put this down to the way the censorship informed my young sinapses.
You're not alone in appreciating the semi-nude male form. I have posted comparative series of the same models in which I remark that the semi-nudes seem to be more attractive than the nudes. Perhaps we like to be teased occasionally. I'm particularly fond of "barely legal" shots in which no posing strap had to be used.
Almost all of Jack's photographs seem to give off a feeling of elation, the joy of showing off the built man. Confident, magnificent....another note on the posing strap. In the nude version Jack's penis casts a shadow on his right leg. Is it that there was some retouching to remove these shadows for the peel/rub off versions? Anyway, a wonderful and inspiring pose.
I wonder what became of Jack thomas, his posing partner in a famous duo series Jack LaLanne lived on , had a tv exercise program, supplements and lived into his 90s I believe.
LaLanne tried to round up and all the nude photos when his TV career went into high gear, but Russ Warner refused to give him the photos from the joint photo shoot with Jack Thomas. I did some searches and found this group of photos from a 2010 or so bodybuilding meet with an elderly participant named Jack Thomas. See if you think it's him:
