I find this photo interesting on several levels. First, the man in the doorway is wearing garters with his ankle boots and crew socks. He also seems to be locking eyes with the man passing by. Plus, in the last of four appearances today, we see one of those ubiquitous WWII tents on an elevated foundation with a wooden surround at ground level and what look like window screens. My father lived from April through November of 1945 in a very similar arrangement on Okinawa, and he told me that these were creative modifications to deal with floods from a pair of typhoons and the ensuing plagues of rats, flies, and mosquitoes. Could this be Okinawa?
