The real deal
This cowboy looks like the guys I grew up with in West Texas from head to toe.
It would be nice to see more of the horse, though. A cowboy's horse is special.
Stetson has made many styles of hat, but there was one that was considered the classic, and you can see it here: https://petestown.com/products/stetson-4x-beaver-collection-classic-range-western-cowboy-hat
The style above is made of woven straw and is a workaday type, not a dressy style. Also, although Stetson was a dominant brand, most cowboy hats were and are made by other companies. Resistol, Justin, American Hat, and J.W. Brooks are popular for good reasons. My family prefers Resistol for everyday use, and Stetson for fancy occasions. Brooks is a new, but very good brand.
Very handsome, he reminds me a bit of Jeff Richards who had a minor career in Hollywood in the 1950's. Most notably in The Opposite Sex where he played a ranch hand named Buck Winston. Maybe that's it, similar look. And yes, I would like to have seen more of his horse.
Mr. Richards played opposite Joan Collins, June Allyson, and Ann Sheridan in The Opposite Sex, but his career just never took off. He spent the last decades of his life living on disability in a California trailer park.
The Real Deal's hat seems smaller, or should I say less generously cut, than the others. Were there different styles of Stetson?
