Beach men

It's time for a trip to the beach, and we start with
a photo which I was tempted to lighten, but didn't.

Helpful pal

This might be amateur, and it might not.  The technical quality is good,
but the staging and cropping don't look professional.

Magazine

All I know about this photo is that I found it in a group of magazine shots.

Driftwood duo

I have a couple of other photos of these two and their driftwood log,
but I'm saving the others for later.

Skier

This blonde seems to have water skiing in mind.

Mighty Mystery Men

Today is another of those occasions where I'm asking you viewers to help identify some great models for whom I have no names.  A few of them have clues as to the photographers, so that may help, and they all look like they could have been competitive bodybuilders or at least gym attendees.
We start with a hairy guy photographed from a dramatic angle.  It worked.

Beef on a rock

Oh, my.  I just have to know who this guy is.  Somebody please help me.

Derriere

OK, derriere shots are definitely hard to ID, but at least we have a face profile here.

Shower hero

All I could say when I was this guy was, "WOW!"  So I immediately started searching
for some way to identify him.  The setting is obviously Bob Mizer's infamous shower,
but that didn't help because none of the online collections of this material (and there are
a lot of them) had a name.  Even my go-to ID guy, James IV, had posted the picture on
his blog Men from Back Then with the same lament as me.  Anyone?

Familiar

I have a feeling someone will know who this guy is.
He looks awfully familiar, but I can't place him.

Gods?

The random uncurated blog I snagged this from labeled these
two simply as gods, and I can't argue with that assessment.

Exceptional lighting

This is the kind of lighting Pat Milo is well known for,
but beyond that hunch, I don't know a thing.

Built

This is a beautiful photo, and I don't have a clue as to anything about it.

One more time . . .

Yes, this is the second appearance by this hunk in today's series, and I'm hoping that someone might recognize the model in this version.  Once again, the location shouts "AMG" at me.

Bruce in the desert?

The desert setting makes me think of Bruce of LA, but
then he wasn't the only photographer who worked there.

Mid-century music on the Hi-Fi

Today we'll be looking at some Mid-century men enjoying records with varying
combinations of modern furniture and sound equipment.  These two don't seem to have
a hi-fi anywhere in sight, but at least they have a record to play.  The sofa is classic.

Billy Joe and Harry B.

Billy Joe Carr seems about to enjoy a Harry Belafonte record on a hi-fi somewhat incongruously placed next to a classic mid-century dinette.  This is the original, as opposed to the photoshopped version I once posted that removed the posing strap.  Photo by Don Whitman of Western Photography Guild.

Eddie and some tunes

Eddie Williams never fails to impress, but he looks a
bit stilted in this Don Whitman/WPG photo.

Modern romance

These two seem to be getting chummy while enjoying some high end sound equipment.

Foldout

I had to include this G-rated picture because of the double foldout.
Both the turntable and the album cover fold out for full enjoyment.
Also, one of my college roommates had a stereo just like this one.

Early Colt?

Ending the series with what I believe is an early Polaroid by Jim French before he became Colt.
Note the turntable at right on top of a record rack with a modern light over it.

Medical exams again

Today we revisit the clinics for some guys getting a variety of exams or shots, as in this case.  This is one of those pictures where they guys have been painted with codes, I suppose to denote what they need or what their status might be.  The last time I posted one of these, we determined that one poor guy probably had pneumonia.  I'm guessing he got rejected for service, at least temporarily.

Military?

Did the Army use civilian doctors for some induction exams?  These guys are in suits,
making me think that perhaps this is an athletic screening exam of some sort.

The dreaded gloved finger

This recruit looks like he knows what's going to happen next.
I think this is Soviet, but I'm not certain.

Mass inspection

This looks like some sort of mass VD inspection in a barren field.
Looks like a place my uncle unsuccessfully tried to grow peanuts once.

Measuring up

Larry K. sent me this photo from a French website long ago.  I have to say that
the guy at center isn't the best specimen, but the others look pretty good.

Bruce by Bruce, Part 1 - Nudes . . . limited though they may be

Many of you have probably noticed that lately I've been posting full double feature series on some lesser known, but great, models.  Bruce Schorb falls into that category despite the fact that I can only find three frontal nudes of him, and one of those shouldn't count because it's just a cropped version of this one.  I think, however, that once you get a good look at him, you'll agree that he was worth the space and effort.  Oh, and I find his legs simply beautiful.  All photos by Bruce of LA.

Alluring

The grin and the half turn make this Bruce photo of Bruce Schorb alluring.

Hardhat and Boots

Bruce Bellas did a group of at least half a dozen photos of Bruce Schorb as a laborer,
using varying combinations of a hardhat, boots, and various props.
The Bum Brigade will no doubt find this one appealing.

No hardhat

I don't know if it was a different session, or if Bruce Bellas just decided to go without the hardhat,
but this color photo harkens to that group of shots with Schorb as a laborer.

Imaginary prop?

There is a similar G-rated photo of Bruce Schorb in part two of today's series.
In this one, it almost seems as though he's holding an imaginary staff or rope.

More work

The cropping makes it hard to tell exactly what Bruce Schorb is doing here,
but the photo provides a different sort of derriere view.

Bruce by Bruce, Part 2 - Non-nudes

Part two of our Bruce by Bruce double feature shows just how well Bruce Bellas could produce sexy photos without full on nudity.  This exceptional shot of Bruce Schorb is my favorite of this model hands down.  There is a similarly posed color photo, but this is the better of the two.

Man of Steel

I somehow failed to use this photo of Bruce Schorb in my Superman series.

Pinup pose

Bruce Schorb shows us a nice smile in this pose that was often used for pinup girls 1940-1960.
My oldest sister was posed that way for her FFA Sweetheart photo in her high school yearbook.

Everything works

The lighting, the shadows, the model, and even the simple rope prop all work together
to make a fine image of Bruce Schorb here.  Even the hair on his legs is shown nicely.

Sculpted miner

I suppose Bruce Bellas was going for a miner look with this shot of Bruce Schorb in a hard hat
with lantern and boots.  What stands out to me, though, is how the photo captures
the finely sculpted features of the model's body, particularly the jaw line.

Classic Physique

There's nothing original about this pose, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Bruce Schorb must have gotten and 'A' in Modeling 101.

Snoggers again

Saturday's theme is kissing, and we start with two 1970 types, a longhair and a possible beatnik.
The bearded guy has one of those wide leather watch bands that seem to have been more popular among nude male models than the general population.  I remember those things vaguely.

Awkward

How many awkward elements can you find in this picture?
  Architecture and decor items count.

Pickup line

This magazine even included a pickup line along with the dirty pictures.

Rear approach

Looks like an ambush from behind, but he doesn't care, and there's one of those watch bands again.

Poolside pawing

Looks like they've already been in the water and are ready for other things.

Australia Day, Part 1 - Nude Photos

Time for another Australia Day double feature, and part one has a variety of nude photos.  I can't tell if these guys just swam at the beach or just finished showering because the truck looks like it might be a mobile shower, but then again the beach is right there.  Maybe both.  The two men in the foreground seem to be sharing a towel, and the picture was Taken in Geraldton, Australia in 1942.

1975

Although it looks older, this photo by Carrol Jerrems is
dated 1975 and called "The Devil's Playground."
Makes me wonder if it's a gay bathhouse.

1936

I felt like I should include at least one of the original Australians,
so I'm posting this 1936 photo by Roy Dunstan from Outback Magazine.
Many thanks to Larry K. for sharing it with me.  His blog is at:

1945

The original caption pretty much says it all.

Undated

This one is undated but I'm guessing that it's mid-20th Century.

WWI Masses of Men

Australian photographer and artist Robert Cyril Palmer Brett took this one during World War I.
This can be enlarged on some devices, and you may find it worth the trouble.

Australia Day, Part 2 - Art by Donald Friend

Part two of our Australian double feature consists of art work by Donald Stuart Leslie Friend
(1915-1989) an artist whose reputation suffered from both his homoerotic drawings of young men while living and the posthumous publication of his diaries.  Those diaries described a number of
illegal and immoral (even by my own modern standards) relationships with models and others.
