Based on how often he was photographed by John Graham, I'd say British
bodybuilder Clive Norman was a favorite model. If my source's dating is correct,
this is the oldest Graham photo in my collection at 1949.
This is a terrific photo on many levels. There's the beautiful masculine physique of the model in that great pose under excellent lighting. Then there's that almost feminine quality of the gauzy fabric draped over the posing box, and the shimmer of the curtains behind. It has a very classic Hollywood feel about it except for the complete (and delicious!) male nudity. And speak about "draping". His testicles drape beautifully over his thighs. All in all a winner!
I need to get you to start writing some of my captions! I have to say that John Graham's work was a cut above that of the better known British photographer John Paignton Barrington on both technical and artistic levels. Thanks for your keenly perceptive comment.
That's nice of you to say! I enjoy commenting, but I wouldn't have the opportunity if you didn't take the effort and time to have such a great blog. :)
