The two guys on the right look more like fashion models than hippies,
but the one on the right at least has authentic accessories.
And the fellow at center looks familiar for some reason.

  1. The "hippie look" became a fashion statement relatively quickly. I agree with your assessmentof the two men on the right. I don't see them as being "genuine."

    1. See the comment below by Thomas. Warhol's crew came from all sorts of backgrounds, so "genuine" was indeed a relative term in this case.

  2. This is the left side of the central photograph of the 3 photo "Andy Warhol and members of the factory, 30 October 1969" by Richard Avedon.

  3. Cette photo me fait sourire, c'est celui qui a le corps le plus poilu qui semble le plus efféminé :-)

This photo makes me smile, it's the one with the hairiest body who seems the most effeminate :-)

    1. Thanks! That explains why I though I'd seen one of them elsewhere.

  5. These men are all associated with Andy Warhol's The Dream Factory. The man at left is actor/comedian Arte Shaw.

  6. I stand corrected on my last entry. The actor shown at left was Artie Johnson, not Shaw. Andy Warhol's workplace was also known more usually as The Factory, not the Dream Factory. Sorry- I'm relatively new into vintage photo history, but I did look this up from my notes and the internet.

  7. Dino is incorrect. It's not Artie Johnston. He was an actor on Laugh In born 1929 so he would be around 40 in this photo. I don't think so. Eric Emerson and Tom Hompertz are know from Andy Warhol movies like Lonesome Cowboys. Jay Johnston is still alive and in New York. He is the twin brother of Jed Johnston who was Andy's lover at one time.

    1. Well, you get today's accuracy prize. I went to a reputable museum website, and the men are who you say they are in order from left to right. Thanks!

  8. Well played Thomas. You can't always believe what you read on the internet, so it pays to get info from several reputable sources, I guess. Thank you.
