George Platt Lynes

I'm currently trying to make my way through a biography of George Platt Lynes by Allen Ellensweig.  I wish I could recommend it, but it is barely readable and gets bogged down in insignificant minutiae while giving minimal time to the topics that most interest me.  Anyway, we're overdue for a Lynes series, so here we go, starting with Dick Beard from 1950.

  2. I made it to the end of the Lynes biography but it was a real slog. Much better to stick to the photographs, so this series is very welcome, particularly as I haven't seen most of this work before.

  3. You are right, sadly the Platt Lynes biography is completely unreadable and does him no justice whatsoever. Such a missed opportunity with all the material made available. I looked forward to it so much as Platt Lynes is a hero of mine, but was bitterly disappointed. Thank you for constantly bringing us his images on your wonderful blog, always a joy to see your posts.

    1. Thanks for the kind words, Dale! I wish I had spent my U$41 on something useful.
