Leonard Chambers is best known for his modeling work with Bob Mizer of AMG and for being the subject of a courageous Mizer editorial in Physique Pictorial criticizing his 1956 killing by two LA cops. They shot him twice while he was handcuffed in the back seat of their car, and Mizer wrote a scathing account of it. Except for the victim's race, it sounds familiar, doesn't it?
I only have two pictures of Mr. Chambers by Kovert of Hollywood, and this is the better, imho.
Good grief how did they get away with what was so brazenly murder.
ReplyDeleteIt was 1956, and Leonard was not a typical 50's middle class male. there was his nude modeling, and there may have been other "anti-social" factors.
DeleteThe LAPD was known for being one of the most corrupt police departments until recently. It was well known that the Italian mob couldn't get established in LA because the police had a piece of all the crime. When most of the judges are taking bribes, the LAPD could get murder cases thrown out before they could get to tri.
