Ending today's series as promised with another photo of the great Eugen Sandow.
Re: attaching fig leaves: I read somewhere that some of the leaves had strings on the back that were tied around the model's penis and scrotum. They were not visible as a result. I have no idea if it is true or not, butthis pictur of von Sandow seems to bear that out.
This is lovely. That fur rug has the look of clouds. Giving Eugen the look of a Wagnerian hero. I think in this case the leaf has a preformed shape. Perhaps papier mache or thin metal? With some sort of broad lace tied at the back of the scrotum. At some point I hope to experiment with these.
Others I've seen do indeed look like thin metal, but we can't really be sure. The only documented (if you want to call it that) attachment methods I've read about have been string and wax.
I try to fashion one out of aluminium. I do hope somewhere there is an obscure late Victorian paper on the subject. As a teenager I built myself metal and leather jockstraps and armour.
