Vic Haywood here posed quite prolifically for John Barrington of London.  Those spots, specks,
and scratches you see are probably original to the print.  Barrington was not known for
technical quality, and this example is average or perhaps a bit above.  He did,
however, manage to find models of excellent quality.

  1. He is a handsome devil, isn't he? I like shots from this angle. This guys pecs and abs stand out beautifully, among other things.

    1. I still find it amazing that Barrington could find a fantastic model and stage an incredibly effective shot like this, but not manage to do decent basic photo finishing. And he didn't seem to improve his print quality over the years from what I've seen.

    2. yes, such a pity so many of his final images are of poor quality. I wonder if negatives still exist?

    3. It is poorly reproduced. Looks like he left out in dust and grit. Which does not make the model less desirable.

    4. Barrington had a wife and daughter(s?) who inherited his negatives. What they did with them, I couldn't tell you, but I spent the last half hour researching this guy, and there's a lot more to his story than I thought. He did some pretty decent male nude art work. I'll save the rest for a future series on this very complex character.

    5. Yup, an interesting life. Many thanks for doing this. Looking forward to seeing the results.

  2. Barrington did find some amazing models, and managed to sleep with probably half of them. He did this while staying married and supposedly raising children. He was supposed to have denied being bisexual until he died.

    1. At one point he claimed to have slept with all of them, which was proven to be untrue. And yes, he denied being bisexual in the next breath after that claim. I'm putting together a long series about him for March.
